[MIXTAPE #29] CROOKERS - DON'T BE SAD

Last Thursday, Italian duo Crookers decided to split. It was a really sad day because they've been influenting me since long time ago. I was planning to post some "remember track" from them, but fortunately, as they announced, Crookers will continue with only one member (personally, my favourite...) and he has created this mixtape "don't be sad" to hear some new tracks "from him", and after hearing it it really made me happy: Crookers is not dead!

SUMMER'S TOP 5 AND NEWS

It has been a long time since last post. Last month I've been really busy studying for my September's examinations which were really important for me, but I didn't forget about this blog and neither about mixing and finding more music.

In fact,I've been thinking what could I do to improve it, get more visits and make it really useful, talking about music and me. Well, I'm now working with different tools to get new functions to the site. But the most important thing is that from now and on I will start posting tracks without much or any text or comment (just the Youtube video, Soundcloud or whatever and the link), just to offer you a new good sound without searching shitty info about the artist because it really takes time to make it, for instance, I promise to bring you more quantity and (probably) quality. As you can see there's a lot of tracks I use in my mixtapes but they're not uploaded, and it really gets me angry when I create the Top 5...

So here you have this kind of Summer's Top 5 that sum up this inactivity period in Hugolo Music:

TWITTER @hugolomusic AND CHANGES ON BLOG:

Hi guys! Some years ago I really didn't understand Twitter because none of the Spanish people was using it. Actually, more and more people are creating accounts and I think it's a new way of communicating different things and socializing. So, regarding to other's blogs I thought it could be useful and also funny to create an Hugolo Music account. You can follow me @HugoloMusic and discover new things that I won't post on the blog (in fact this solves a big problem for me because there's a lot of things I can't post and lost on the queue...). If you don't use it or don't wanna get spammed with good music ( =P ) you can find on the right a new box with all the tweets to keep up to date.

I've also added a new box at the end of the blog with all the tags sorted by number of posts to discover music easily (this was planned when I started the blog, but I've been waiting to get a minimum quantity of posts to make it really useful). Maybe you've also noticed that the Facebook box is also smaller (I've removed the Facebook post's feed because it really does not make any sense...) but you can still subscribe and you can also get all the updates as usual.

Blog's traffic it's increasing as times goes by and it really makes me happy of sharing music with afar visitors and I'm just trying to reach everyone that could had the same interests. So if you have any friend with similar music tastes, just spread the word!

SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA ENDS UP

Swedish trio (Axwell, Ingrosso and Steve Angello) have announced that the actual summer tour will finally be the last tour with the three of them together. There's still dates to be announced, but as they say on their website, it's the end of this "journey".

Personally, I think it's a sad new because when anything comes to an end it's a big pity, and it's worst when it was so good and successful. But, for instance, I'm really anxious of hearing them in their future individual projects, because I was a great fan of them individually before they create SHM. AUTOEROTIQUE - WTF

Today I've finished my June examinations for the University, so I have plenty of time to hear, discover, mix and post new music. And blogs' big up is that you can retook whenever you want (as a difference with girls :P) and it makes me happy that there was visitors activity even when I was gone (the same happens with girls :P). So, after giving probably the worst info ever in this blog, let's return to music.

There's plenty of material ready to shock the summer, but I really wanted to post this track because Autoerotique has announced a remix contest for this track. The following text has been extracted from the official DIM MAK webpage where you can find all the info:

Dim Mak Records is pleased to announce the Autoerotique WTF Remix Contest. One lucky winner will be selected to have their remix of Autoerotique’s latest single “WTF” featured on their upcoming EP, “EKG.”

Beginning Monday, June 18th all remixers will be able to cast their entries via Dim Mak’s Official Soundcloud Remix Page, with the contest lasting through July 16th.

How to submit your remix:
- The official single, WTF can be downloaded at bit.ly/WTF_Remix.
- Entries must be submitted to the SoundCloud WTF Remix Drop box at bit.ly/WTF_DropBox to be considered a valid entry.

And I wanted to start with this track because I'm planning to be part of the contest and remix this track, which could be my first remix ever! I'm just learning how to use Fruity Loops, and it's not easy, but I think this contest will help me to spend some time to reach the goal of creating something different and listenable. Oh! I almost forget it! The name's track it's "WTF".

PENDULUM FINALLY SPLITS UP

Well, it's such a shame for me returning to post with bad news after a lot of rumours, but I felt that I should remember the best Drum'n bass group in the history after rumours turned into truth... According to NME: "Pendulum announce split":

 Pendulum have announced that they have split up.

The Australian dance rockers released three studio albums in a 10-year career, with their most recent effort 'Immersion' coming out in 2010. They have also been a fixture on the festival circuit in recent years, playing over 30 festivals across Europe last summer.

The band's multi-instrumentalist and main songwriter Rob Swire, who is currently touring with his side-project Knife Party, announced the news, writing on his official Twitter account Twitter.com/rob_swire: "There will be no further Pendulum live shows. There are no current plans for a new album in 2013."

Swire also confirmed that Knife Party was very much his priority in a recent interview with Australian radio station Triple J, saying when asked about the future of Pendulum: "The Knife Party thing is going so well we don't really feel like going back to junior school anytime soon."

He continued: "We're having too much fun with this project. It's also great because Pendulum towards the end sort of felt like we were doing it because we had to and that's never a fun way to do music. Whereas Knife Party is pretty much solely us doing what we want to and if no one likes it we don't care."

It looks as though the name Pendulum will still continue to operate, with members Paul "El Hornet" Harding and Ben "The Verse" Mount continuing to book DJ sets under the band's name.

At least, we could still enjoy Knife Party's style, which is greatly influenced by Pendulum. But as I said in the beginning it's such a shame for me... They have really influenced the music I like and I choose them to start "Do you remember" section. It's not worth spending much words talking about them because you can find much more info on the Internet from any I can give you... I'll just post the same track I post in "Do you remember" section and their first released track:

To open "DYR?" I have selected Pendulum. And to be more precise, I have selected the first released Pendulum's song in 2003 which success was the first step to become world-known artist. One decade has past but their sound seems to be unique and exclusive:

[DYR #7] DANNY TENAGLIA - DIBIZA (BRING THE DRUMS BACK) & MUSIC IS THE ANSWER

Today Danny Tenaglia has decided to quit producing and djing all over the world. Bad news, but after reading his "goodbye note" we should be happy for him because it seems he has fulfilled most of his musical dreams and after nearly 30 years he needs time for other aspects of his life:

Dear Friends, please, just LET me BE, LET me BE! >> The Time Has Come for ME to "finally" BE MYSELF!! :) I have been telling people for so many years now to JUST BE YOURSELF!! But for me, being myself was living with 1 foot in a closet and 1 outside "trying" to BE the happiest DJ on Earth, which I have been, and give the World the best I had to Give because I know how happy I have made people with the gift of music from GOD and this has been a great blessing .... so I simply Could Not Stop!! Since everything has CHANGED since I first realized I wanted to BE a DJ forever like playing records" and getting a job in nightclubs back in the early 70's (gag) and now here I am at 51, been around the world many times, put over One Million Miles in the sky, 3 full Passports and my Heart has been YEARNING for something New & Different besides music. BUT, as I have been trying to STOP and make BIG changes like finally calling my home in Miami since 2006 HOME, but was always to busy between NY residencies and travels and it's been getting the best of me lately. Airplanes, Airports, Hotels, Foreign-isms, and what can I say: I HAVE SEEN THE MOUNTAINTOP as a DJ and I just need to STOP and smell the roses of my life and simply try to "Grow Up and BE who I really am" but "everything" - including the need for finances to afford my Loft of 10 years in NY which I can no longer afford and must let go of by July . . . I know many people think I am wealthy but I assure I am not! I have lived well and have very nice things to show for my earnings, but I cannot stop working!! When I say I have been writing for the past 5 days, it has been DEEP!! I kept starting over and over and it's turned into a major journal and sooooo much of this I promise I want to share with ALL of you, The Good and The Bad, but thankfully it's mostly good! ON my way home on Wed from DR & Montreal I was having a bad day as I had a head cold, and there's no enjoyment in an airplane or in a hotel room out of the country with a headcold .... anyhow, I was traveling back to Miami alone as my co-workers flew back to NY and I was just looking out the window the whole flight and for 3 hours I was just thinking HOW AM I EVER GOING TO PROPERLY RESIGN (not retire) . . . And when I got home I realized I left a small carry on murse bag with many personal things, keys, passport and so on and at first all I could feel was FURY!! I tried everything between Lost & Found and the car service, but as my ID was in there and now 6 days later no return, well all I can say is that THIS has been The Revelation that I needed to say: LADIES & GENTLEMEN: As of this day, I am "resigning" (not retiring) and all future gigs will sadly BE canceled except for My Belated Birthday @ Pacha on Sat April 28th! This will BE my final gig until I feel I am ready to return back to the decks. This is thee hardest decision I have ever had to make in my career, but if not now, then when?? I apologize to all parties involved but I think most people that know me personally know that this has been coming! I have performed at WMC 26 years in a row! I have played every year in Ibiza since 2000! It's time for ME to Stop and settle down, move out from the loft which will BE a very MAJOR ordeal . . . OMG!! I have soooooooooo much STUFF!!! There is no way I can do all this and travel and have a life . . . Only I can make the decisions of what stays and what goes, including what I will do with over 10,000 records, etc etc etc ....... SO in closing: I LOVE YOU ALL and I just wanna Thank U 4 Lettin me BE MYSELF all these years, and now I beg you to please continue with me in my journey and my quest for something new and wonderful. I will never give up my first love with MUSIC, but there has to BE something else (or someone) out there waiting for me! :) >> I promise to keep updating here, but I needed to do this today - in order to BE FREE & BE ME!! Please BE kind, this has not been easy and I am a very sensitive person. God BE with US all! See you soon!! :)
